Spring is coming. What maintenance needs to be done?
In early spring, clean out any debris that accumulated over the winter. This can be done by using a net or a pond vacuum from which there are many choices to pick from

and many retailers to buy them from. If a cloud of algae blooms, don't panic. This seasonal adjustment of the ecosystem is a natural occurrence.
Start checking your fish, inspect for signs of sores, parasites, or lethargic behavior.There are many theories on what should be put into the water. First thing would be (if you have not already been able to do it) to do a 20% water change. Also, it is a good idea to follow instructions for proform-c and prazi or similar products, to get rid of any parasites or other diseases. Test for ammonia and nitrate weekly. Return water plants if they were stored for winter.

Elevate water lily's to stimulate them faster. You can then add marginal, submerged and floating plants. Divide root-bound plants and re-pot the divisions. If you disconnected the equipment over the winter, reconnect.
Check lights and electrical connections, make any necessary changes and hire an electrician if needed. Inspects the liner for tears, patch if needed. Start a biological filter by adding beneficial nitrifying bacteria.
