Is that my fish in your mouth?A small bird with a big appetite for fish. Living near natural waterways and large lakes, even canals, this little monster will visit your pond if it notices you have fish. Especially if you own brightly colored goldfish and sparkly koi. It can eat a surprisingly large fish. By 'dive-bombing' and spearing, it can fly away with a fish as large as 8 inches. If you have one who decides to make your home his own, you may have to keep a net over your pond, or buy larger koi, say a foot or longer. Or get up very early and sit by your pond all day. If you are thinking about buying a BB gun, you may want to check with the Department of Wildlife Resources before you go shooting what is probably a protected species.
