Friendly Fish

  1. Want to make your fish friendly? Here's how:Koi Love Food

1.Feed your fish food they like. Usually, Koi like food that's 35 to 40 percent protein and high in fish product. Offer a treat once in a while, like freeze dried Krill, which they love.

2. Realize that fish are a lot like humans, in that some are naturally friendly and some tend to be loners. Believe it or not (and I'm not sure I do), some Koi varieties are friendlier than others. Chagoi and Ochiba varieties are supposed to be friendly, and will make your others friendlier, too.

3. Stand by your pond two to five minutes before feeding them. This will teach them to associate you with food. I guess by now you realize that the way to a fishes heart is through it's stomach. A hungry fish is a friendlier fish. We Love Food! We Love You!

4. You could ring a bell or clap your hands or whistle before each feeding, and they will soon learn to associate that with feeding. Soon, they will come running each time they hear that special sound.

5. To hand feed takes a bit more patience. Hold the food close to the water and observe what your fish do. If they come up and take it, great, your job is done! Chances are, they'll come just so close then dart away. Note how close that is, then start letting the food go whenever they get that close. They'll start coming closer every day and before long, you'll have them cleaning your fingers off for you.
