There are many animals you can add to a pond, and a few that just show up.

Fish, turtles, frogs and perhaps ducks are the common pets, but you may, depending on where you live, encounter other creatures. Raccoons, snakes, salamanders, tons of birds and insects, snails, and water bugs may drop in. There are also hundreds of microscopic critters that you'd never know are there without a microscope, so it's a neat idea to get one and see what you're not seeing with the naked eye.
